Thanksgiving is a time of deepening gratitude for family, friends, animals, for life, and loved ones. Being grateful is empowering and fuels me to create greater light and flow into my life. Oftentimes family holidays can bring up past hurt and resentments and with them the emotions of despair, deception and darkness. Bringing the power of forgiveness into Thanksgiving and our lives allows for a greater appreciation of the sacredness of life and the connection we all share.
Unresolved anger and bitterness are toxic emotions, so much so that they jeopardize our health. Holding on to painful emotions can eventually lead to health problems including depression, insomnia, and the obvious, stress. Studies have shown that prolonged anger greatly increases the risk for heart disease, high blood pressure, asthma attacks, and angina attacks. Forgiveness heals. Forgiving others isn’t about them; it’s about us. It is about loving ourselves enough and taking care of ourselves enough to move from resentment and bitterness to owning our own feelings of happiness. Enough said.
Thank You Readers! This has been another fabulous year for Optimum Wellness magazine. I am grateful for our talented pool of writers, editors, sales team and for our publisher, Active Interest Media. I am appreciative of our grocery partners. I am so excited about our website as it continues to grow and expand (www.optimumwellnes.com). And I am thankful for another magnificent holiday issue where we have fabulous gift ideas, amazing recipes including sweet and satisfying pie recipes and an inspired Thanksgiving menu. We bring you a fun feature on oregano as well, one of my favorite kitchen spices and a powerful antioxidant as well. So enjoy and thanks again.
Peace and blessings,
James Rouse, ND
