More Reasons to Eat Slowly
A recent study from Osaka University in Japan determined that people who eat fast are three times more likely to be overweight as slow eaters. Those people in the study who ate quickly until they were full were more likely to be fat than those who ate slowly and stopped before they felt really full.
When we eat until we feel full, we often end up overeating. This is because there is a delay in signal between the stomach and the brain that tells us we are full. Have you ever noticed that if you refrain from having second helpings or dessert that if you just wait ten minutes or so you’ll notice how much fuller you feel even without the extra food?
Also when we eat fast, we through mindfulness out the window and often don’t even realize the portions that we are taking in. So slow down and enjoy your food. Chew your food well and allow your digestive process to support you in every way. Your body and your waistline will benefit tremendously.
