Some Very Sweet Tips For Losing Weight

Do you have a sweet tooth that gets in the way of losing weight?

According to researchers from Cornell University, you can use your sweet cravings to your advantage.

How? Add more fruit to your diet. Fruit is a natural source of vitamins, minerals and plant phytochemicals (antioxidants). Fruit is naturally low in sodium, high in fiber and higher in water content than most grains and starches.

Water and fiber in foods increases the volume of the food so that you feel more full after eating it, but typically without the excess calories that you would get from downing a half dozen donuts to attain the same sensation of fullness.

In past studies, an increase in fruit and vegetable intake has been linked to maintenance of weight loss. When individuals increase their intake of fruits and vegetables, they tend to decrease their consumption of fat, which contributes to the weight loss success.

Here are a few ideas to simply add fruit to your daily diet.

  • Layer your favorite berries with non fat yogurt
  • Bake an apple with cinnamon
  • Poach a pear in wine sauce
  • Sprinkle crystalline ginger bits over oranges
  • Dip your favorite berry — like strawberry —  into an antioxidant rich dark chocolate syrup

Researchers discovered that this sweet and fruity plan was as effective as other diets and had another benefit-higher antioxidant defenses which lowered their risk for heart disease — Yes!
