CSA Bounty

We are so excited to be part of a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) group that delivers local, organic vegetables, fruit, and fresh eggs to our neighborhood. CSA’s are spreading across the country, typically selling “shares” (aka memberships) to the public.
Sauteed Swiss Chard with Tahini Dressing

The chard is running rampant at the farmers markets and in CSA boxes across the country. Now is the time to cook up a bundle of these awesome greens. If you like spinach, you’ll love chard.
Living in a Material World

If you want freedom to live the life you have imagined then choose to move from competition to creativity. Imagine not feeling the pressures of competition, of lack…the zero sum game mentality.
Gooseberries?

We have this pretty bush on the side of the house and I am thinking it is a gooseberry bush. Can anyone identify it from this picture?
Here’s what I learned about gooseberries:
Gooseberries are a good source of vitamin C, vitamin A, calcium, iron, and phosphorus. Many gooseberries are too bitter to be eaten raw, although some of the [...]
Gorgeous Glutes

At the height of bathing suit and bikini weather it’s hard to ignore the glutes. They’re out there. If you’ve been cycling a lot you feel them. Gardening, hiking, rollerblading, squatting and lunging will also bring attention to the area. Still confused as to what we’re talking about? The gluteus maximus, gluteus medius, and gluteus minimus muscles (glutes), of course, otherwise known as your buttocks, booty, buns, rear-end, rump, behind, or other less article-appropriate words.

sea salt and pepper
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon [...]

And Away They Went

Our girls have headed off to camp for 2 weeks and so we are temporary empty-nesters. With plenty of work to do, there is no shortage of creativity and enthusiasm, but there is still an eery quietness that somehow seems distracting. I believe that as parents it is easy to define ourselves in terms of [...]
How Sweet They Are – Sweet Cherries

Cherry season is here and there is no better time to enjoy these healthy, sweet treats. Sweet Bing cherries are the most popular cherry enjoyed in the United States. Their dark, purplish-red skin hint at the powerful phytonutrients that lie within the little fruit. Cherries rank very high on the antioxidant chart in terms of [...]
