“If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost. There is where they should be. Now put foundations under them.”
~Henry David Thoreau
I am grateful for the return of summer. Time to get those outdoor projects completed. Not long ago we were in the midst of planning an addition to our home. The permitting process was slow and arduous, often causing us to question our commitment to getting the job under way. The building permit was necessary to satisfy the county and to assure that all the proper precautions and plans were in place. I have since used this experience in my own personal growth. Within my particular building permit, I have set an intention to build my life and grow my mission and soul purpose. My building permit then serves as a necessary blueprint upon which I can lay down the foundation to grow my life.
No building project would be successful without the feeling and true knowing that we do have enough (energy, finances, love, time, talent) to get the job done. Being grateful brings forth the feeling of abundance. When we appreciate, we align with the law of attraction; we receive more of what we like and the feeling of gratitude and appreciation circulates in us and as us. Let’s become very comfortable and committed to the idea of being grateful. Planting this powerful seed of appreciation will help grow our lives from average to amazing!
Peace and positivity,

Happy Anniversary to Us!
I am so grateful to all of our readers and am excited to share that this issue marks our 5-year anniversary of Optimum Wellness Magazine!! Special thanks to our publisher, Active Interest Media, our grocery partners, copy editors, designers and all who work to make every edition of our magazine colorful, inspiring and full of flavor. This issue is no exception. You’ll find just the right reading to help make your summer a healthy one – grilling, hydration, and picnics (which our gluten-free readers will really appreciate)!
I recently had the opportunity to spend the weekend with an incredible group of women up in Vail. The many individuals, stories, passions, and life’s work that I encountered inspired me. In particular was Sarah Symon, who with her husband John, founded The Emancipation Network (TEN), fighting slavery and human trafficking. To learn more about TEN, check out their website at www.madebysurvivors.com. I am so grateful for the important work they are doing and I am finding ways to become more involved.
Be well,
Dr. Debra Rouse
